The Lilly Endowment has donated more than $6 million to an Indiana University research institute.
The Public Policy Institute on the IUPUI campus in Indianapolis is an umbrella organization for two research centers focusing on criminal justice and Indiana urban policy.
It's the second high-profile gift from the Indianapolis-based endowment to IU in the past few weeks. On Jan. 10, the endowment
gave $33 million to the Kelley School of Business.
The gift to the Public Policy Institute will help kick-start a fundraising campaign.
The Lilly Endowment has helped to fund IU's urban policy research since 1992. Institute director John Krauss called the donation a vote of confidence for its work.
