Students from Michigan Technological University are spending their spring break encouraging Detroit Public Schools students to consider careers in engineering.

The district says members of Michigan Tech's National Society of Black Engineers student chapter will visit Paul Robeson/Malcolm X Academy and Spain schools Tuesday.

The program is designed to inspire young people and their families to consider careers in engineering and science.

Michigan Tech students also will visit schools Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They will hold family engineering nights at Paul Robeson/Malcolm X Academy Tuesday night and at Ann Arbor Trail
Magnet School Thursday night.

The eight college students are Detroit Public Schools graduates.
