The Tri-State University board of trustees has voted to change the school's name to Trine University in honor a major donor.
The name change will take place on June 1, 2009.
The new name honors Ralph Trine and his wife Sheri, the owners of Angola-based Vestil Manufacturing. The couple gave an eight-figure donation to the school last year.
Tri-State did not release the amount of the donation, but said it was the largest single gift ever received in the history of the university, which was founded in 1884.
The private school has a combined enrollment of 1,450 students at its main campus in Angola, 40 miles north of Fort Wayne, and its regional centers.
