A southeast Michigan elementary school's MEAP scores are suffering because the school neglected to turn a portion of the test into state officials for scoring on time.

A writing portion of the Michigan Educational Assessment Program test taken by fifth-graders at Meadow Brook Elementary School in Rochester didn't get sent in to the Michigan Department of Education because of an oversight. Students got a failing grade for that part of the test.

School officials told The Oakland Press the score on the writing portion of the test did not make a tremendous impact on the overall score the building received.

It does not appear the tests will be scored now in part because of the potential expense involved.
