Dr. Terry Barker started his new job as Mishawaka Public Schools Superintendent on October 3rd.

Dr. Barker was Superintendent of Union-North, but said that he felt like this "was an opportunity I couldn't pass up."

Dr. Barker was a principal at Walt Disney School in the Penn-Harris Madison district and said that those connections helped him find his place in Mishawaka.

Vouchers were up for discussion this morning. Dr. Barker said that, "people need to realize that the voucher program will affect all schools in Indiana."

He said that only 16 students in Mishawaka used vouchers to go to private schools but that it is his job to "make our schools places that people want to come to."

Dr. Barker said that down the road he hopes to look at some of the new technologies that can be implemented in the classroom.

He also noted that three schools in the Mishawaka district are four star schools.
