Two central Indiana teachers are facing disciplinary action for reviewing ISTEP+ test material before the scheduled test date. WTHR-TV reports one of the teachers may be fired.
South Madison Community Schools released a statement admitting two 6th grade teachers at Pendleton Elementary School didn't follow guidelines when they looked at science test questions and went over the material with their 55 students prior to the exam.
The school district says consequences could range from a formal reprimand to termination.
The district informed parents the 55 students' science ISTEP+ scores won't count this year. Officials say the invalid scores won't affect students' report cards or scores on other sections of the ISTEP+ test.
