The Indiana Department of Education has released it’s first draft of new teacher evaluations.

The new system ties teacher performance with student test scores.

State Superintendent Tony Bennett says the new evaluations will better recognize excellent teachers, and point to those who need improvement.

Teachers argue that the statewide test should not carry as much weight.
