Valparaiso University is planning to add a 14,000-square-foot welcome center to its campus.
The final design of the building will go before the university's board next month for final approval. The Lutheran-affiliated university hopes to start construction this fall and have it ready for students by the fall of 2011.
The new one-story building will house offices for admissions, transfers and international student recruiting, with meeting and presentation rooms.
The plan is for the facility to be built at the south entrance to the campus, just north of U.S. 30, near a student bridge.
Architect Victor Ritter says the cost of the building has not yet been determined.
