What is it?
Do the Right Thing is a non-profit organization designed to recognize and reward youth all across St. Joseph County . It focuses and promotes the good things kids do and the
St. Joseph County Police Department believes those acts should be celebrated.

How does it work?
Nominations are accepted during the school year, but every three months officers honor 10 school age children in St. Joseph County who distinguish themselves by their behavior. Nominees must have one or more of the following:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility  
  • Peace    
  • Caring  
  • Integrity  
  • Courage  
  • Patience  
  • Service  
  • Self Control  

Deadline for entries: 20th of each (November, February, May)

All nominees are considered winners, but 10 kids will be chosen to be a part of a special awards luncheon that's attended by teachers, parents, business leaders and law enforcement officials. The 10 winners also receive free prizes for their accomplishments from the following sponsors:

  • South Bend Silver Hawks

  • Steak N Shake    
  • Broadway Theatre League
