The holiday season is a busy time for everyone but for second grader Amy Portolese, it was a time to give gifts to people she'd never met.
She saw a news report about how some Notre Dame students were helping the homeless in different ways. That gave this young lady an idea....
St. Joe. Country Sheriff Bill Redman says, “Amy chose to collect art supplies to benefit the classroom's programs. Amy wrote letters to each of her family members requesting them to bring art supplies at their Christmas party.”
Amy adds, “When they gave me the art supplies my mom would take me and we would go to the homeless center and give our art supplies to them.”
“She’s just a real caring person and looks out for others and we're real proud of her for that” says Amy’s mom Sue.
When she is not working on her current service project for the shelter, Amy is busy with dance classes including ballet, tap and jazz. As for the future, Hillary Clinton step aside....
“I want to be the President so then I could rule the states!”
At the rate she's going - don't rule it out.
