Whether it be train tickets or gasoline, prices continue to skyrocket. That is unless your filing for taxes.
Due to popular demand, the United Way of St. Joseph County is once again offering free tax preparation.
Last year the agency filed for nearly 1,500 people in our area alone. With an average accountant cost of $300, that's a savings of nearly $400,000 combined.
The only condition, our salary can't exceed $50,000.
"We had clients that made $12,000 to $15,000 range. They leave and they've been able to receive the earned income tax credit, the child tax credit. They leave here with an extra $5,000 in their pocket. We've raised their income tremendously and their excitement, they just can't thank you enough," said Dawn Chapla with the United Way of St. Joseph County.
The United Way has availability for 2,000 filers. To schedule an appointment before the Apr. 17 deadline, just click on the Big Red Bar.
