Snow shortfall makes for budget surplus at local street departments

Street departments across Northern Indiana and Southwest Michigan are breathing easier thanks to an unseasonably warm winter.

    There is very little up front savings to put elsewhere..it indeed rolls over to next season because the salt was already purchased under contract. The savings will not be seen till next winter.

    Why not donate this money to the parks departments who lost out big this winter by not having revenue from tubers because of the lack of snow.

    We need to have this roll over for next year. Put it in an account and wait because you never know what next winter will be like.

    so in Goshen we saved about $1.50 each , or about the same as one government employe /w benefits for the year ? .we need to look into this some more .
