Reason for Peanut Butter Recall Identified

The culprit behind a nationwide peanut butter salmonella scare has been identified.

Officials at Conagra Foods say moisture from a leaky roof and faulty sprinkler allowed the bacteria to contaminate peanut butter at its Georgia plant .

The wet environment, mixed with dormant salmonella bacteria from raw peanut dust, most likely caused the outbreak.

The company plans to have its peanut butter back on the market in mid July.
