Local auto dealer debuts gas-efficient, tri-wheeled vehicle
High gas prices are already making Americans re-think a lot of where they go and what they do. Now, they may start re-thinking what they're driving. Jordan Ford in Mishawaka has a new car it thinks will help fit the bill.

I saw a three-wheeled "pink" car out on grape road in Mishawaka yesterday. It was a death trap! It looked more like it should be on a sidewalk than on the street and I would never put my kids in it. Not a smart move I must say.

Want a safe small car? Check out smartusa.com more safty ratings for the car just out today. As for the question 'Why is it that when a car get's produced to get better gas mileage, the car gets smaller?' well it takes less energy to move a smaller/lighter vehical...thatt's not to say they can't be safe and if we could get some of these big honking SUV's off the road then you and I would statistically be safer in any medium to small vehical. Yes I used to own a big gas truck for a business vehical, thought the insurance would be lower because it was safer for me and my passengers. Insurance was high, why, because of the harm I could do to others in smaller cars.

Lucy, you are exactly the kind of person who is causing oil prices to skyrocket like this by deluding yourself that your enormous SUV is somehow safer than a smaller vehicle. Smaller vehicles weigh less which means they need less energy to move, which in turn means they use less gas. If everyone drove one and drove carefully instead of text messaging and watching DVD's, they'd be just as safe and would be saving a lot of money too. Also, smaller vehicles don't tend to tip over on corners like your "safe" gas guzzling SUV!

Why is it that when a car gets produced to get better gas mileage, the car gets smaller? How is that better? Better gas mileage is better than being safe?

I applaud the person who designed this ride! I love seeing the innovation that people have during tough times to prove "Where there's a will...There's a way!" But if you think I am gonna believe for one minute that there is nothing our government or the oil companies can do to lower these gas costs...Then your just stupid! Frankly..I think they are creating the problem to bring us all down.

Yeah - smaller vehicles, better mpg, etc. That's great until you hit a fantastic chuckhole, or get smashed by a big SUV. The person who walks away isn't going to care that you had gotten better gas mileage. Maybe your widow would've been glad to chip in the extra $$ to have you walk away, too! Seems like no easy answer. I know I can't afford both a winter SUV and a summer "Mini Cooper". BTW - notice that the buses in Goshen are still carrying about 2 people at a time. That's really using the taxpayers dollars!
