President Bush says he's troubled by rising gas prices and will take a look at proposals to relieve the crisis -- but warns there's no quick fix.

The president told ABC's "Good Morning America" that "it's going to be a while" before the problem is solved. He adds that America is "too dependent on foreign oil and we need to be exploring more at home."

Bush is in favor of building new refineries and drilling for oil in the Alaskan wilderness.

He says federal tax rebate checks will help Americans facing soaring gas prices. And he reiterated his call for Congress to make permanent the tax cuts enacted during his administration.

Thats funny. He has a quick response to invade Iraq. Quick response to tap peoples phone and email messages. But can't find a way to regulate gas prices. Figures.

Anonymous, as we begin to burn corn and other commodities in our gas tanks, we will see $140 for a bushel of whatever and we are not the only bread basket in the world. I have to agree with Mike and “W’s” self-centered interest. Also, a big contributor to the high price of oil and gas is the deflated dollar.

How can my incentive check revitalize the economy, if all I do is spend it on higher gas prices. And if you drop the gas tax, then the South Bend potholes will never be filled.

I strongley beleive that as long as Bush is in office we will not see a change in gas prices. Bush is a oil man and as long as it profits his wallet he will not make the change. WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS GUY. We the people elected him and nows the time for a change. We need to trust in our God and he will help us through these difficult times in need.

Yeah, "no quick fix" for rising gas prices; like they are ever going to go down again!!!! I must say, GW, you did a pretty "quick" job of causing it to rise from $31 dollars a barrel to $120 in just 7 years!!!! Hey, anyone who doesn't understand how he and his buddies are responsible, they need to read up on current events.

I think if we were to charge these foriegn countries $140 for a bushel of wheat we just might see the cost of oil go down. Pretty tough to grow wheat and corn in a sand box!
