Sony is recalling 1.6 million Bravia flat-screen televisions.

The worldwide recall involves tvs sold since 2007.

Sony says a faulty component may cause them to melt or catch fire.

Last month, a Sony Bravia tv owner in Japan called the fire department after noticing a small fire and smoke coming from the set.

11 incidents of overheating have been reported in Japan since 2008.
