You don't have to go far to pick fresh fruit as u-pick cherry season is in full swing.
A Lehman's Orchard in Niles, Mich., u-pick tart cherries season opened today.
For those not wanting to pit their own cherries, a commercial cherry pitter, which pulls the seeds out of each cherry, is available.
Despite the rain, people traveled from all over to pick some cherries today...
"I think we have enough variety to appeal to just about any one that wants to come out and pick some fruit and have some fun," said Steve Lecklider, owner of Lehman's Orchard.
The u-pick cherry season is expected to continue for three more weeks weather permitting.
