Some local high school students showed their appreciation for veterans Thursday by standing guard for 12 hours at the Military Honor Park.
Four Clay High School students with the Air Force Junior ROTC took part in the Changing of the Guard ceremony all day.
It began at 8 Thursday morning and continued until 8 p.m.
Bob Huffman, Air Force Junior ROTC Honor Guard, said, “It's really the least that we can do to honor the veterans. We're doing this just to show people there are veterans out there, and people who served, people who are going to serve, and who presently serve. There are people overseas, and we just need to honor them.”
The ceremony is a replica of the official Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington.
