Michiana salon offers free services to those without power

Granger, Ind. A Michiana salon is offering free services to people who are still without power.

Kerri's Avenue Salon on Cleveland Road in Granger announced on its Facebook page Tuesday those who are still in the dark can come in for a free shampoo, condition and blow dry.

"I just thought of everyone who might have a special event or meeting or something they need to do and they don't have their electricity," said salon owner Kerri Spencer. "As women, it's super important we don't have a bad hair day."

While no one took advantage of the offer Tuesday, the salon says it will continue for the rest of the week.

Spencer says a little bit of pampering can go a long way for people who are still coping with the outage days after the storm.

"You know, give them a little break away because I'm sure they've been juggling refrigerators, and freezers, and heat and children," she said.

Stylists will be standing by to help customers who come in for the free services. They say they're happy to be able to help, even in a small way.

"I'm hoping everybody we do touch that comes into the salon just takes away the good feeling of somebody giving back for no other reason than just to make their day," said stylist Cheryl Langlois.

The salon accepts walk-ins. People can also call for an appointment at 574-243-3901.
