Penn grabs 10th state championship in social studies Academic Super Bowl

Penn High School's Academic Super Bowl-Social Studies team, ranked No. 1 in Indiana headed into the state finals Saturday, won the team's 10th state title at Purdue University-West Lafayette in a nail biter of a finish.

After missing a question early in the match the Kingsmen rallied back. It wasn't until the completion of the final question that Penn's victory was assured.  If Penn had missed the final question they would have ended in second place.

The victory in the state finals also meant an undefeated season for the Kingsmen after winning both the Warsaw and Ft. Wayne Dwenger Invitationals and the Mishawaka Regional meet.

Mishawaka High School's math squad completed their season at the state finals with a fifth place finish in Class 1.

Penn's other teams at the finals and their results in Class 1 included Interdisciplinary, 2nd, with a score of 16, Fine Arts, fourth, with a score of 18 and Science, fourth, with a score of 17.
