Each year, the St. Joseph County Public Library selects a book to bring readers together and engage them in a community-wide discussion.
It's called One Book, One Michiana and this year's title has been revealed. "Rocket Boys: A Memoir by Homer H. Hickam, Jr." is going to be the 2011 selection.
The book was made into this movie, "October Sky", starring Jake Gyllenhaal back in 1999. It chronicles the story of one boy's attempt to escape the coal mining life of Coalwood, West Virginia, by learning the science of rocketry.
One Book, One Michiana is scheduled to run April 1-May 7. You can find more details on the library's web site, which we have a link to on the Big Red Bar.
