Chippewa Bowl in South Bend has started a bowling league geared towards those with special needs.

The league, named The Special Strikes Club, held a fundraiser on Saturday to help cover start up expenses. Chippewa Bowl even designed a special ramp to help children who are too small to bowl throw a strike.

"This is a noncompetitive league,” said Heather Pena of Chippewa Bowl. “So it lets them feel like they are really doing something cool. It gives them strikes. It really boosts their self esteem for kids or anybody that has challenges.”

The league starts play September 18.
