If you're looking for a fun family activity Friday night, just head on down to the Century Center in South Bend for the return of Meet Me on the Island.

The summer series kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with music, art, food and drinks on the newly renovated Island Park, located behind the Century Center.

You can sip a glass of wine while listening to music by Kevin Q and the Night Crew and perusing the works of 3 different artists.

“Its going to add a lot of people, a lot of excitement, a lot of fun to downtown South Bend and it also helps the downtown economy,” said Amy Kleinert, the marketing manager for the South Bend Museum of Art. “People then leave, they go to the bars, they go to the restaurants and hopefully they'll come back and visit downtown South Bend again, outside of Meet Me on the Island.”

Renovations to the island include a new tent and landscaping.
