With the weather getting warmer, you might be looking for new ways to cool off and the city of St. Joseph has just the thing.
The Whirlpool Compass Fountain opened on Saturday as a part of the Blossomtime Festival!
This summer will be the inaugural season for the fountain. Last year, it opened just in time for Labor Day.
The fountain features 28 jets running constantly and 8 "big cannons" that run every 15 minutes for those looking to get more than just cooled off.
"When the weather is great, the whole pad can be full of people," says Derek Perry, Deputy City Manager for St. Joseph. "In fact, when the big cannons go off, you can actually hear the kids screaming all over town."
Right now, the fountain is only open from 5 to 9 p.m., but starting on Memorial Day, the hours will extend all day.
