South Bend is getting a green makeover this weekend in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.
Wednesday, Mayor Steve Luecke officially renamed Niles Avenue "St. Patrick's Boulevard."
The annual “St. Paddy’s Tent Party and Pub Tour” is on Friday from 5-11 p.m. at 350 S. Michigan Street downtown. There will be live music, drinks, and food.
You must be 21 to enter and it costs $5 to get in. There will also be free trolley rides going to participating pubs on the pub tour.
“Downtown especially over the past couple of years of creates an atmosphere of where it truly is the town center and you see a lot of activities downtown and this is one of the days where it's really evident,” says Carolyn Meehan of Fiddler’s Hearth.

Crews tested out the hose Wednesday for the traditional "greening" of the East Race, which will happen right after the parade Saturday.
New this year, kids will get a chance to dance a jig at the pavilion at Seitz Park in a leprechaun contest.
The annual St. Patrick’s Day parade is on Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. For route information and more details about both events, click here.
