The pain of this economic recession isn't only affecting humans, it's also hurting animals.
Thursday night, Michiana can help the Pet Refuge no-kill animal shelter in Mishawaka by coming out to Heritage Square in Granger for some food, fun, and live music.
The "Taste of Heritage Square" event runs from 5-8:30 p.m. at Heritage Square on State Road 23 in Granger. There will be live music from the Jim Pickley Jazz Trio, a wine and beer tasting event, specialty food samples from restaurants
Pam Comer, fundraising director for Pet Refuge, says the money goes to the daily costs, "food and shelter, cleaning supplies, all of the things that keep the doors open."
The cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple to attend. People can buy the tickets at the Heritage Square Martin's Supermarkets early or at the event.
