South Bend prepares for St. Patrick's Day

Get your Guinness and soda bread ready because St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner.

In South Bend Thursday the mayor renamed one city street St. Patrick's Boulevard as the official St. Paddy's Day kickoff.

Mayor Steve Luecke even did a little jig to get Michiana residents geared up for Saturday’s big parade downtown

"We’ll see a larger parade contingent this year and hopefully it will be a nice sunny day for us to get out and enjoy it,”said Mayor Luecke (D). “It will be a lot of fun with bands, floats, marchers and twirlers and people celebrating their Irish heritage."

The parade starts at Jefferson Boulevard and Frances street at 11.

Afterwards the East race will be colored as green as the emerald isle and Irish or not--the mayor invites everyone to celebrate.
