Adopt-a-Pet: Wolvie Needs Your Help!
Wolverine was left behind at a local vet's office with his head tilting completely to one side. He was taken to South Bend Animal Care and Control in July of 2007 as a very young kitten. Luckily, he found his way into a loving Paws ‘N Purrs with IMPACT foster home soon after. He needs YOUR help to survive! Wolverine was left behind at a local vet's office with his head tilting completely to one side. He was taken to South Bend Animal Care and Control in July of 2007 as a very young kitten. Luckily, he found his way into a loving Paws ‘N Purrs with IMPACT foster home soon after.
Wolvie has had many vet visits in the last several months trying to determine the best course of care to end his discomfort. X-rays revealed that at one time he suffered a ruptured eardrum that has since been covered with scar tissue. Several rounds of antibiotics and steroids have been used to try to fight the lingering infection deep in the ear canal. The medications seem to help a little bit, but only for short periods of time.
Wolvie often has difficulty when eating and drinking his food as there is drainage into the back of his throat. He also has spells with breathing problems, especially at night. His only chance for a good quality of life is to have a surgery that can only be performed by a specialist to drill in behind the ear, which will allow all of the infection to drain. Please help in any way that you can. No amount is too small.
South Bend Animal Care and Control have been very generous and have paid for some of Wolvie's x-rays and many other vets visits including his neuter. However, the shelter takes in many animals who need care every day and cannot supply any more help for Wolvie. If you would like to donate to help with Wolvie's medical care, you may contribute online at www.pawnspurrs.org or mail checks to Paws ‘N Purrs with IMPACT, 52815 Hollow Trail, IN 46628.
Funds collected into our Hannah's Heroes Fund will be used to support Wolvie and other animals in need of medical care in our community. Although first quoted an incredible $4,000 cost, with the help of Dr. Hatch at Kryder’s Veterinary Clinic, we were able to locate a specialist in Anderson, IN who has offered to help Wolvie for an approximate $1,500.
Wolvie had his first appointment with the surgeon on 01/24/08. Dr. Mair believes that in addition to his ear needing to be drained, Wolvie might also have some sort of polyp that is contributing to his difficulty breathing and swallowing. Unfortunately, we now have to wait a few weeks to see if he will be approved for some grant money to help with the significant cost of the surgery.
If you would like to donate directly to Wolvie's surgeon, please send to:
