Located inside the Quality Inn in Roseland, Indiana is Hey Sushi! Based in Chicago, owner Won Kim decided to expand and head to Hooiserland because he says there is a definite need for fresh sushi here.
Flat screen TVs hang on the walls, a large bar, as well as a sushi bar great guests, and the walls change color - adding nice color to usually dark sushi restaurants.
“It's modern but it's also warm and because of where it's located here we felt that the sports part is very essential.”
As for the menu, you name it, they got it. And if they don't have it, no worries…they’ll make it.
Won says, “Our menu actually changes every season so we'll be able to accommodate everyone. If you don't see something on the menu, we'll even make it for you. The fresh fish is very hard to get here obviously. We have our own suppliers and we have fisherman around the world we have contracts with. It comes through customs and gets flown straight to New York then to Chicago then straight to here.”
One of their signature dishes is the Godzilla Roll. It has tempura shrimp, spicy mayo, chili sauce, and this baby is big! Really big. The pieces are almost the size of tuna cans and will definitely fill you up...all for about $15 bucks. You'll have to cut each piece into small pieces just to eat it.
The chef also has a new item on the menu called the Indiana Roll...complete with a four (or five) leaf clover design.
Hey Sushi has won a slew of Chicago awards such as “best sushi” 3 years in a row, "Best Pan Asian food," and the list goes on.
With their badges of honor growing, Hey Sushi is a welcomed addition to the Michiana area.
