During football season, plenty of people like to enjoy some burgers, hot dogs, and a beer or two during tailgating.

Some beer lovers in Elkhart celebrated home-brewed beer with a lesson.

Saturday was the 12th annual "Learn to Homebrew Day."

Members of Michiana Extract and Grain Association and Michiana's Homebrew Club showed the public how to make their own beer.

Brewers said their hobby is becoming more and more popular, with thousands of people taking part in brew day events around the world.

They said the best part, is the creativity.

Summer Lewis of the Michiana Extract and Grain Association said, "You can customize beer to your palate. You can find something you like commercially and then bring it in to your garage basically and adjust it and play with your grain and hops to get it to what you like."

The event is usually held the first Saturday in November and is held in several countries, including Belgium, Canada, and Germany.
