Six years ago this summer, Notre Dame qualified for the College World Series. It's a collection of the best of the best in the game. It's a rarity for a team north of the Mason-Dixon line to even get close to Omaha; so it was a really big deal. Not too many fans followed the Irish to the CWS but it was one of the best events I've ever covered. It's basically a week-long party with a little baseball thrown in the mix. The city of Omaha goes all out for the teams and the fans as it's always played in the Nebraska city. In that World Series were future major leaguers Huston Street, Khalil Green and Matt Macri. The rustic Rosenblatt Stadium is on its last legs as a brand new stadium will soon be the home of the CWS. But the ballpark is hosting one of the most incredible tourneys ever. On Tuesday, Fresno State forced a third game in the best-of-three by clubbing Georgia, 19-10. Georgia had a 5-0 lead but Fresno scored six in the third, five in the fourth and four in the fifth. This CWS has been marked by great comebacks and never-say-die teams. If you get the chance someday and gas prices aren't six bucks a gallon-head to Omaha for a great time watching future stars who play the game for the name on the front of the jersey; not the one on the back.
