Even if we get very little rain the rest of the year, 2011 will go down in history as a wet one.  In fact, we've already had more precipitation this year (as of September 19th) than we had all of 2010.  We had a lot of snow to start the year, a wet Spring, a fairly wet early summer, and since then it has been dry.  Here are the specifics:

2011 So Far

Total rain/melted snow:  32.94"    Normal by now:  27.49"    5.45" ABOVE normal

August/September So Far

Total rain:  2.70"    Normal by now:  5.98"     3.28" BELOW normal

So, if we had even had normal amounts of rain since August 1st, we would be at at total of 36.22"...a whopping 8.73" above normal.  It's interesting to note that we are now considered "Abnormally Dry", one level away from Moderate Drought...even though we are very wet for the year as a whole.

    I am bothered by some of the negative comments when describing the weather! Everyday is BEAUTIFUL!! Some people think that the only beautiful days are sunny and 80 degrees. Oh contra, I love to watch a thunderstorm go by and I love the sound of the rain! We cann't change the weather, so embrace it for the wonderful beauty it brings. As the people on the news, you need to uplift and inspire people instead of bringing people down. PLEASE, stop saying the weather is awful or that you wished it were better, because EVERYDAY IS BEAUTIFUL. Cloudy, rainy days should be embraced, not lothed.

      Carrie, i think you need to lay off the medicine for a while, not everyday can be beautiful,some days are awful.
