Hey all... Long weekends are one of life's joys. It's a time to forget about work and a time to focus on the important things in life -- like catching up on all the TV shows I've missed. I spent Sunday and Monday in Indianapolis just hanging out. I had never been there so it was cool to see a city with actually stuff to do. I want to thank the folks at the Omni Hotel and the Indianapolis Zoo for being so accommodating to us -- albeit our short trip. Sunday night was dinner at The Melting Pot. I had never really heard of it and didn't even really know what fondue was until I ate there last weekend. It was awesome! It was lobster, chicken, filet mignon, etc. Lots of chocolate dipped goodness for dessert, too. If you've never been there -- go. I loved it. Tuesday I was in Sandusky, Ohio at Cedar Point for the day. Since I am obsessed with roller coasters (the faster the better) it quenched my thrill-seeking thirst. However, it was rainy, cold, windy, and packed with eleventy million people. Many of the rides shut down for a period of time (due to the rain but it was so cold I think it was a light snow). It's July, right? We did the Raptor, the Magnum, Power Tower, etc. The ride the takes the cake is the Maverick. I refuse to go on a ride unless I am in the front - that's just the way it is. The rain delayed the ride for about 30 minutes but it's worth the wait. If you get a chance to go on that ride I highly suggest you do it. I've been on it many times and each time is pure heaven. I've heard rumors of people waiting more than 4 hours...yes, it's that good. As we walked around the music of Michael Jackson blared through the park speakers. Many t-shirt stores had "Michael Jackson R.I.P." shirts hanging in the entrance -- a sad undertone to such a fun place. JS |

Katie, please close your eyes and imagine maybe OB was joking too. Keep picturing it in the future because I'm unlikely to come right out and say 'I'm joking' next time either, it just kinda spoils the whole tongue-in-cheek style when it has to be explained. For you, though, even though I don't "need people like you" to understand, I'm making this exception. Posted by: Katie Location: Niles OB - thank you for being such a downer. Of course Joel is joking. If you don't know his humor don't read his blog. We don't need people like you on here. Posted by: OB Location: SB You are either quite the optimist or taking a little literary license with the whole truth. I mean, eleventy million people, really? I'm not sure how many that is but I assume you mean it was extremely crowded. Like Lucas I don't care for roller coasters, too frightening for me, cold windy and rainy seems like a day I'd rather be inside doing something else. Waiting in line for a half hour while it rained on me sounds maddening. The blare of Michael Jackson music on distorted speaker systems sounds especially annoying at best. Other than that, the day sounds swell. Posted by: Jessica Location: New Buffalo You'd be so fun to go with joel! We love roller coasters! Hopefully you went with someone who loves them as much as you do. Love the Maverick! Posted by: Lucas Location: Goshen Personally, I don't like roller coasters...I went to Cedar Point for the first time a couple of weeks ago and I had to be dragged onto the Blue Streak and Iron Dragon. Didn't care for those at all...I loved watching the expressions of the people that rode the Dragster, though. That was hilarious! |
