While a lot of things can be blamed on global warming, I do not believe that hurricanes are one of them. I know there has been a rash of hurricanes over the past 3 or 4 weeks, and some are saying it's because of global warming. What they are neglecting to tell you is that other parts of the world are having a mild hurricane season so far. In fact, the western Pacific Ocean, where they call them typhoons instead of hurricanes, is way below normal. Many hurricane experts have found that to be the case...when the Atlantic is active, the Pacific is tranquil, and vice versa. And there appears to be a cycle to it all. The Atlantic has been in an "active" cycle for the past several years, and will be for at least a decade or more. Just so you know, the vast majority of hurricane experts agree with me on this one...there is no evidence that the number or strength of hurricanes increases due to global warming. Mike |
