While a lot of things can be blamed on global warming, I do not believe that hurricanes are one of them. I know there has been a rash of hurricanes over the past 3 or 4 weeks, and some are saying it's because of global warming. What they are neglecting to tell you is that other parts of the world are having a mild hurricane season so far. In fact, the western Pacific Ocean, where they call them typhoons instead of hurricanes, is way below normal. Many hurricane experts have found that to be the case...when the Atlantic is active, the Pacific is tranquil, and vice versa. And there appears to be a cycle to it all. The Atlantic has been in an "active" cycle for the past several years, and will be for at least a decade or more. Just so you know, the vast majority of hurricane experts agree with me on this one...there is no evidence that the number or strength of hurricanes increases due to global warming. Mike |

By the way, Mom, post at least once or twice more, please, I will check-in again in a day or two. In the mean time, try to solve this riddle and the following paradox. Post your answers in this same section when done. RIDDLE: What is greater than god*, more evil than the devil*, the poor have it, the rich need it, and if you eat it, you'll die? *Sorry- this is part of the riddle. PARADOX: What happens when an unnstoppable force meets an immoveable object? Posted by: Anonymous Location: Here Anyway, back to the hurricanes. I seem to recall that in one point in american history, we tested a tactical nuclear devise right in the path of a hurrican as it hit in the middle of the atlantic. Now this was not proven but I also recall that same hurricane slowing, stoping and even changing directions in just a couple of hours. Weird huh? :) Posted by: Anonymous Location: Here Besides it is just a Theory, and theories are just educated guesses based on pursuing ideals. Now niether of these ideals can be catagorized as right nor as wrong. For they can not be proven, due to the inability of the human mind to try and predict ideas. Ideas which, in tern can not be substituted for a normal thought. These thoughts are our way of interpreting life's mistakes of the unknown into rationalized ideas called theories. So theories cannot be proven or disproven based on rationalizations of the human mind, but can be have estimated amounts of truth in them. (Sorry for the rant, and HI MOM!) Posted by: Anonymous Location: Here I watched a three hour program on "The Little Ice Age" several years ago, and learned all about it. But I never thought to put it in concert with sun spot activity. When you were a kid (my guess, no offense intended) we didn't have didn't have as up-to-date technology. Our country, assuming you to live in America, our scientists were only leading during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions of the 1960s. Did you know that when we launched the Hubble Space Telescope, it was the largest dud, so to speak, in American history. Why? Because the mirror was misaligned by 1/1,000,000 of an inch. The most expensive progect in american history, had our entire space program's but ridding on it, and it was a dud. But we fixed it some of the most basic technology. My point is... if we can do that, then why can't we be right about a theory? Posted by: Mom Location: rural Anonymous, when I was 15, the same people were telling us about the "Coming Ice Age"! When you've lived longer, you'll understand that where there are "scares", there is grant money to be grabbed. Do a search on "Little Ice Age" and then on the relation of that era to recent sun spot activity. Nature turns in cycles and God *does* have a sense of humor. (Did you see how many "Global Warming Seminars" were cancelled due to extreme snowy weather last year? LOL) Learn to be wise and watch where the money trail goes... Posted by: Anonymous Location: Here Check out some of my other posts about the Switzerland particle accelerator progect. Posted by: Anonymous Location: Here Most people I've met believe that their is no such thing as global warming because their is extremely long/cold winters. But global warming causes global cooling for the winters and global dimming. I'm 15 and I know this, so if you don't know what I'm talking about reasearch the terms. And hi Mike... Posted by: David Location: Mishawaka I am with you Mike. I remember after Katrina in 2006 all of the whacks came out of the woodwork saying that Global Warming would produce worst storms every year after, and not one hit the US Mainland in 2007. I guess the Gods have a sense of humor. |
