MIKE: September 4th...an unusual day!

I knew when I started checking the record books back through the past several months that it had been a while since we had a day like this.  First I wanted to see how long it had been since we had a high temperature colder than 69 degrees...that's what we hit on September 4th, 2008.  Well, I had to go back to May 28th when we only hit 29 degrees.  Then I wanted to check on the rainfall because this was one of the few "really" rainy days in quite a while.  Officially at the South Bend Regional Airport, we had 1.32" for September 4th.  I was actually surprised to have to just keep going back through the months without finding a rainier day.  I looked all the way back to January 8th to find one...that day we had 1.80".  We also had a lot of flooding across the area after that rainfall.  We should not see much flooding this time because the ground is pretty dry from the lack of rain this summer.  Just to summarize:

Coolest day since May 28th:  69 today vs. 68 then

Rainiest day since January 8th:  1.32" today vs. 1.80" then

It all dries out again for this entire weekend, though, so have a great weekend!
