Hey all...

Today's blog is bittersweet.  First, sad news out of Hollywood as actress Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  She is such a talent and this is especially sad because only a few weeks ago her boyfriend was found dead in his apartment (doctors believe from an accidental prescription drug overdose but that has not been confirmed). 

I sat down and chatted with Christina a couple years ago when she was doing press for the film "Anchorman."  People always ask me who's the nicest/meanest people I've ever interviewed, etc.  Without pausing I always say Christina Applegate has been one of the nicest women I've ever sat down with.  She's incredibly warm, charming, and genuine.  Ironically, I made her tear up in the the interview when I mentioned a fan I knew of hers who had cancer and wanted to meet Applegate before she began radiation.  No one knew a couple years later she'd be going through the same thing.  Good news is doctors found it through early detection (hear that, ladies?) and her case is not life-threatening.  She is one of the most underrated comedic actresses, amazingly funny, and I wish her the best.

On a lighter note - this weekend was "On the River 2008" which was a benefit for the Center for the Homeless in South Bend.  Wow, was that a great party!!  I previously blogged about the preparations for it but we had a blast.  Lots of sand, drinks, food, a huge stage and live music, amazing fireworks, hunks in trunks, and babes in bathing suits - there was something for everyone.  Even if you didn't want to drink and party - there was enough eye candy there to give you diabetes.  It was a great event and can't wait until next year!!
