JOEL: A Huge Crash for a Great Cause 7/18/'08

Hey all...

Hope you all had and are having a great week.  I headed back out to the lake on Wednesday with the wave runners and had a fantastic time.  It was really hot so can't beat zooming on a lake with the wind in your hair and the bugs in your eyes.

Tuesday we headed over to the LaGrange County Fair.  I have always loved fairs and it really is a key part to what summer is about here in America.  However, I found this to be a little deceiving.  The website and all the info shows a ferris wheel and rides.  There are NO rides.  I drove a long way to get there and no rides.  Ohh well, false advertising is not fun but the pigs and cows are always a treat.  Also next to them was a baby black bear, a mountain lion, a baby mountain lion, and a monkey.  Um, are these fair animals and are these supposed to be pets?  Hmmm....

Last night I was a "Celebrity" waiter at U-93's" charity night at Hacienda on Portage Road (photo at left).  It was a blast and always is.  It raises money for "Reins for Life" which is a charity allowing disabled young people to be able to ride horses this summer.  We all wore Hawaii shirts, leis, and went to work serving the crowd and unlike Thursday morning's live shot, I didn't drop anything (which, for those of you who saw it, was fake and planned).  I used to be a waiter for a couple years so this was all old hat to me but I was still fairly nervous about the whole thing.  It was a blast and so glad we could raise some money.

A very busy weekend here in Michiana with the Venetian Festival, College Football Hall of Fame events, Elkhart Co. Fair, etc.  Go out, have a great time with friends and family, and be safe!

OK, I need a vacation.

Oh Gezzzz, get over it Appalled. It was for fun and I would have laughed if I had seen it. And I think that was the whole concept. Laughter....Gas prices must be taking the laughter out of your life. Great job Joel. Vacation? Where would you go Joel?

OK, I know TV news is also borderline showbiz, but come on. You had to STAGE a crash? Why? Because you thought it was more entertaining, or more clever? Did you tell your viewers that? (I don't recall seeing that admission.) It's enough to make me turn the channel - and people wonder why TV news is losing trustworthiness.
