JOEL: Jesse Jackson's Comments AGAIN 7/10'08

Hey all...

Jesse Jackson is in hot water...again.  He recently made comments about Barrack Obama while not knowing his mic was still on after an interview.  All public figures know just because the interview is over doesn't mean the microphone is turned off.  He was bashing Obama because of his support for faith based charities with Jackson saying he wanted to "cut his [Obama] nut's off."  Ouchy.

Jesse Jackson for years has been looked to as a leader of moral authorities.  Also, he is a Baptist Reverend.  However, back in 2001 he fathered a child out of wedlock and apologized.  He said those statements about Obama and apologized calling it a "historical moment."  What?  How?  This is not an Obama issue.  It's a Jesse Jackson issue.  It would be just as big a deal if he would have said that about McCain....but the fact he supports Obama and says this behind is back is questionable.  Did Jackson just show his true feelings?  Who knows.

Many people today are questioning his authority to preach what is right and wrong.  Many say it's very much a 'Do as I say - not as I do' mentality.  Many people will also say everything Jackson says must be blamed on race.  That it's always black people who have bad things happen to them.  Is it really?  During Hurricane Katrina he called the media to a press conference telling news outlets to not use the word "refugee" and they should be called "displaced persons" - that refugee is a racist word.  News organizations didn't followed suit.

Gimme a break.

Does he really support Obama publicly AND privately?  If so, do true supporters speak negatively about someone behind their backs then do an about-face and smile when in front of them and the cameras?  Interesting.  After the recent Obama comments, many NBC political analysts say Jackson needs to go away for a while and lay low - that he needs to think before he speaks or it will come back and bite him.

It did.

Have a great day!

**  Also, stop by the College Football Hall of Fame this Saturday night for a great car show and HUGE BBQ contest.  I'm a judge!

Posted by: Bb Where does Jesse find anyone to film him anyway? He has been trying to jump on any bandwagon he could and has lied and cheated and used. He is just showing his jealousy and racism of Obama, a man who truly worked and earned his position and lifestyle, and did not use the race card to get there.

I remember back in the 60's and 70's how Jesse Jackson regarded the black panthers party. As I recall the black panther party stood for getting equal rights through violence, if need be. Jesse Jackson ( and I will not use the title of Rev. because he doesn't deserve that title. I think his rainbow coalition is a cover up for only promoting the just the blacks. Take a hike Jesse Jackson. I think every ethnic group would like to see him disappear.

Isn't this so indicative of our society today? People have so little respect for anybody or anything. Comments such as that from a minister?!! He needs to get another job. His only goal in life is to hang on the shirt tales of anyone who is in the limelighjt and might give him notariety and a chance to fill his pockets. I for one am sick of his "greater than thou " attitude and I'm sure those around him are too. When was the last time he did a Christian deed without an audience? I bet never! Go away, Jesse!!

Posted by: Sharon As a black woman who used to be a supporter of Jesse Jackson, I'm appalled. I can't believe once again, it was someone, not only from our race, but a "leader" in the fight for equality and respect for our race made such a ignorant comment. I wish he would go away, his time is over!

I cannot believe the support this man gets. He is pbviously out for himself and not for equal rights or whatever his rainbow coalition represents these days. He repeatedly has shown who 'Rev' Jackson is should be ignored by the press and by his finacial backers. He is a wealthy man and those people who believe in him made him that way. Shame on him nd shame on those people whose eyes remain closed.

Joel...I've been thinking about this over and over again. Jackson has been in front of the cameras and microphone for decades. I would think that he KNOWS anything said 'might' be heard when in front of a microphone/television. So could it be that Jackson 'wanted' to make such a comment like that because it could make people very sympathetic towards Obama (ie., planned) 'OR' is it that Obama is such an upstart to the established black leadership that there is real hatred there?? or a combination of both?? I've really been wondering esp. since both Rev. Wright and Gen. Clarke made comments (both supporters of Obama) that in the end put Obama in a position of appearing to separate himself from them and their comments and it ended up placing himself in better light to some degree. Politics is such a hoot sometimes, eh? ;-)

Posted by: Anonymous Jesse Jackson, should not be calling himself a man of the cloth. His comments were indicative of his true feelings, I believe of jealousy. Instead of him celebrating what Barack has accomplished, he is envious that he never made it that far. It's hard to "keep hope alive", with such a vindictive mentality.
