ASOTV: SideSleeper Pro

Looking for a better night's sleep without waking up a stiff neck or back? The SideSleeper Pro promises dream sleep, but would it toss and turn in the “As Seen on TV” test?

The SideSleeper Pro, as the name would suggest, makes you sleep on your side to better align your head and neck.

It’s an odd comma shaped pillow, and using it positions your head, neck and shoulders in the correct position. According to the manufacturer, you want to make sure your chin is slightly elevated and not pointing toward your chest and that the tail part of the pillow runs right along your back.

It feels relatively comfortable and if you do not want to sleep on the same side all night, it is simple to flip over.

I generally do not have any problems with a stiff neck or stiff back when I wake up in the morning, I've been fortunate that way. But I know somebody who's had some back issues, my sister, Maureen. So, we let her use this for a couple of weeks.

“It really didn't help and I was a little let down because I'm always looking for better ways to sleep,” said Maureen. “But it was so thick and what brought attention to me is the ear hole on each side. So when you switch sides, you'd have to switch it and brought attention to me about how many times you wake up a night to switch sides. But it really wasn't comfortable and I also gave it to my husband to try and he threw it on the floor in about four hours time.”

“I wouldn't use it personally. It wasn't comfortable,” said Maureen.

After two different people tried the SideSleeper Pro, both did not like it all. So in terms of helping back and neck pain and a better night's sleep, the SideSleeper Pro is pretty much an amateur and gets the thumbs down.

The SideSleeper Pro is $20 at Bed, Bath and Beyond. It can also be found at places like Wal-Mart and on the internet.
