As Seen on TV: Fix It Pro for Wood

What do you do when you get a scratch on a nice table or dresser? You could get it professionally repaired, but that can be expensive.

The Fix It Pro for Wood could be a less expensive alternative, but "wood" it stand up to our As Seen on TV test?

The Fix It Pro for Wood is the cousin of the Fix it Pro for car scratches, which we showed you a couple of weeks ago.

You actually get two bottles when you buy the Fix It for Wood. One is for light-colored wood obviously, and the other does dark-colored wood. For purposes of a demonstration, we use it Fix It for Wood on a pretty scratched-up old dresser.

The Fix It for Wood is pretty simple. You just shake it up and get it mixed. You spray it on and you wipe it. After using it on the dresser, the scratches aren't as visible as they were. Now, obviously this product can't take out the gouges. If you really wanted this job done right, you take it some place, have it sanded down and refinished.

The dark version of the Fix It for Wood did a pretty decent job. So how would it do on lighter wood? We take a piece of oak and put a few scratches in it. Then we shake up the Fix It for lighter wood, and spray it on the oak. This one doesn't work as well, and leaves it looking too dark. It actually accentuated the scratches.

Here's what I'm thinking: if you have a nice piece of antique furniture that you really want looking great, you probably should have it professionally refinished. If you're getting something ready for a garage sale or you've got company coming over and you discover a scratch, this is probably not a bad product to have. But I was really disappointed with the way the light version of it accentuated the scratches on the oak as opposed to covering them up. So, as far as Fix it for Wood, knock on wood when you use it. We'll give it the partial thumbs up.

I bought my Fix it Pro for Wood at Walgreens for $10, and it's also available in a lot of other stores, and all over the internet. ten dollars. For more information, cl
