As Seen on TV: Jupiter Jack

A recent study shows 80 percent of car accidents are caused by distracted drivers. Many of those accidents are caused by drivers using cell phones.

In fact, both Indiana and Michigan are close to joining 19 other states to ban texting while driving. Putting that cell phone down while driving just makes sense.

If you feel the need to talk on the phone while driving, hands-free is the way to go. The Jupiter Jack promises to make your cell phone hands-free.

The Jupiter Jack is pretty simple: all you really need is a regular cell phone. The Jupiter Jack thankfully comes with its own batteries. All you do is just turn it on (the red light indicates that it is on) then you plug it into the headphone jack on your cell phone.

Then, you dial your radio to 99.3 FM. So, when I make a call I should be able to talk to the person on the other end simply by using the radio. So, what we have now is a hands-free device.

One thing I recommend if you buy one of these things is get some kind of bracket to mount on your dashboard or console. Otherwise, you’re going to have to lay it down and sometimes when you do that the signal goes in and out.

So overall, I was pleased on how well the Jupiter Jack worked. There was a slight bit of static over the radio, but not enough to be distracting. The nice thing about it was that it fit my phone. If the standard jack does not fit your phone, there are six attachments that come with the Jupiter Jack. So any cell phone you have you are likely to find a match.

My advice: if you like to drive a lot, and like to talk on the phone while you drive, dial up the Jupiter Jack and talk away. I’m giving it the thumbs up.

The Jupiter Jack comes with a voucher for three replacement lithium batteries. All you do is pay $3 for shipping and handling. I paid $10 for my Jupiter Jack at Bed, Bath and Beyond.

You can also find them on the Internet. We have a link on the Big Red Bar.
