I have Alosa Opso/Jack Russell Terrier very small dogs Mamma Peach is now 5 years and is having a hard time getting up and down from chairs and beds we went out and got her the doggy steps and she actually uses these. I think these doggy steps were the best things ever made for my Mama Peach she is just so loveable how could I deny her the right to lie next to me while watch my favorite dvd "24" at night. So to who ever thought of these doggy steps I happen to give you 2 thumbs up no matter what Mr Terry McFadden has to say. You just have to have the right dog and the right amount to love for that dog to want them with you......

I think whether or not a beloved pet will use the steps depends on if the pet would use regular steps before physical limitations made hopping up to bed/whatever difficult: my beloved "once in a lifetime" GSD would never ever go up/down stairs, like to basement. So when she got old, I tried steps to bed. No luck. But, a hint: she loved to get in the car, and when it became difficult for me to help her, my brother gave us an oblong plastic fruit lug (the kind farmers use for produce). It worked perfectly, and was easy to put in the car after she got in. It is about 6" high, and since broad, oblong maybe that made it seem less precarious to use. What we will do for our pets! And to the responder who asked why would a dog be on the bed....well, guess that is individual, isn't it?! I do keep a folded sheet on the area of the bed where my dogs liked to lay, to keep the comforter clean. And of course, paws are wiped before coming back into the house!

I found that this product also helped my 20 year old cat that could not make it to my bed. She realy caught on fast, I just walked her up and she had it!! You know cats, they are very smart!!!

Let me preface my statement by saying that I love dogs and own a 14 year old Lab. However, I must ask why on earth would you want your dog in bed? Isn't hair on the carpeting enough? I suppose you really would have an accomodating doting relationship with your canine to be able to endure hair on the sheets.

We have two mini dacshounds that use "similar" steps to get on our bed. The older one was stubborn to use them but the puppy took right to them. The older one caught on but he gets lazy sometimes, has to be coached (verbally). The steps we have are taller and reach the bed a little better but there is still a gap.

My sister has steps for her dog. 1st measure your bed and get a height that is appropriate they make several sizes. 2nd put the steps sideways along the bed so they do not stick out so far. The two small dogs LOVE the stairs because now they can get on the bed whenever they want without begging to be picked up and placed there.
