The basic design of the wallet has not changed all that much over the years, but that may be changing now.
A new type of billfold is growing in popularity.
It is called the Aluma Wallet and, as the name would suggest, it is made out of aluminum.
It claims to be virtually indestructible and makes it easier to access your credit cards while protecting you against identity theft and fraud.
But would the Aluma Wallet get short-changed in our As Seen On TV test?
The Aluma Wallet is about the same size as my own wallet except it is a lot thinner. Now, if I can fit everything from my wallet into the Aluma Wallet that would make a nice difference.
The Aluma Wallet has one push opening. And if you look inside, it looks like an accordian File. The question is, will I be able to fit all of my stuff into the Aluma Wallet and then still have room for my money.
All my credit cards, cash, and driver's license did fit into the Aluma Wallet. Let’s say I need my bank card. It was pretty easy to pull it out. From that aspect, it is pretty convenient.
Another claim by the Aluma Wallet, because of its design, it can protect you from possible identity theft.
A couple of other claims are that it is unlike a leather wallet, if it gets wet, the contents inside, will stay dry. It is dry inside. Now, I would not recommend submerging your Aluma Wallet, but it looks like it would keep these a little drier as opposed to a leather wallet.
The most intriguing claim of the Aluma Wallet is that it is virtually indestructible. In the infomercial, they ran it over with a vehicle; but we wanted to see if it could survive our test.
Unlike the infomercial, we ran over the Aluma Wallet three times. It did pop open one time, but the last two times it stayed shut and, other than a few pebble scratches on it, looked fine. It also still popped open with the one push.
While I am not necessarily chic enough to be walking around with an aluminum wallet, it does live up to its claims. Aluma Wallet is definitely money in the bank and gets the thumbs up.
I paid $11 for my Aluma Wallet at Walgreens.
It is in a lot of stores and all over the internet.
