As Seen on TV: Streak Freez

Would you like to go green while keeping your windows bright and clear?

How about saving money on paper towels next time you have a spill to clean up?

The "Streak-Freez" may be the solution. It’s made by Zorbeez, the American cousin of the “Sham-wow” which, if you recall, is a German product.

The Streak-Freez is a dual sided cleaning towel. One side is for soaking up spills, the other is for "streak free" cleaning of windows and counter tops and the like.

We tested it out on our “As Seen on TV” test.

The first thing we tested was the Streak-Freez's ability to soak up spills. Then we compared it with the equal size paper towel. We'll filled a cap with milk and poured it out. The paper towel didn’t get the milk up completely, there was bit of a film left. Then we tried the Streak Freez and determined that paper towel seemed to do a better job. It was a quicker "picker upper".

The Streak-Freez’s second claim to fame is this special micro fiber that's supposed to allow you better cleaned surface like glass and stainless steel without streaking-better than a paper towel. We tried to clean a big hand print with the paper towel and Windex. It looks like it cleaned it streak free. Then we tried the Streak Freez on the hand print and the streaking with its micro-fiber. We really couldn’t tell much of a difference.

So, here's our decision on the Streak-Freez. The paper towels did a better job absorbing the spills. On the windows, it was a split decision: they both cleaned it well without streaking.

If you want to go green and you don't want to have to keep buying paper towels, the Streak Freez towels are machine washable: you can use them over and over again. So, while it tied in one category and lost in the other it's not a total waste because you're doing something good for the environment.

So, the Streak Freez gets a partial thumbs up.

You get three twelve-by-twelve Streak Freez cloths in a package. We paid $8 for ours at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
