A big city feel in a small town. It's a big city feel in a small town.

The t-shirts say it all. Eat well, be happy. That's the slogan for Granger's newest eatery called The Uptown Kitchen. It's located behind the Martin's Supermarket off 23 and Gumwood in the new Toscana Park. When you walk in, double check you're still in Granger.
Owner Jonathan Lutz says, “This is a brand new, upscale development and we feel we fit in with this area. We tried to create something you would more typically find in a big city like Chicago or San Francisco, something with a colorful, funky, hip atmosphere.”
That it is. Unique stained glass windows, a vibrant lobby, and trendy lights drip from the high, loft ceiling. The food is also art.
“You put it all together to create food that tastes great it's got to be presented on plates and bowls that make it look nice so not only does the food need to taste great but it has to look appealing to our customers.”
Food here is all natural and much of it is organic. They're open for lunch and dinner but uptown kitchen is the Breakfast of Champions. Take for example, their stuffed French toast.
“You get to choose from a variety of cool things to stuff the French toast with from fresh fruit, blue berries, strawberries, raspberries, bananas…”
Their breakfast burritos are huge as are the homemade corned beef hash with two eggs. For lunch we're having Chinese chicken salad and Quattro Formaggio pizza.
When you stop by, pay attention to the little details - some right under your nose. Judging by the approval of the youngest, toughest critics, uptown kitchen is a hip addition to the Michiana area.
