Tucked inside downtown St. Joseph, Michigan is the Pump House Grille. During the summer this cozy tavern-like eatery often has people lined up out the door but a new season brings a brand new menu. Inside, the nautical decor fits this vacation town perfectly and the food is delicious.
Executive chef Marshall Bartley is one of the masterminds behind the new tastes for your pallet. Having cooked for numerous celebrities and former Presidents, Marshall know what guests like.
“I think it's a wide variety of things. I think most of the people are coming in for certain things but we've really changed the menu a bit so it's really hard to tell at this point.”
When I stopped by we cooked up a huge assortment of meals...everything from the mouthwatering pork chops to shrimp with rice and asparagus.
Let me tell you I was more than happy tasting all that was made. The Pump House is known for their appetizer of fried pickles but the crab fritters are amazing. The staff says the strawberry salmon salad is a constant hit as is the chicken penne with mozzarella.
Looking down the line, you can't go wrong with any of the dishes especially those crab fritters! Before I forget, dessert anyone? White chocolate croissant bread pudding. Yes, it's that good.
Also, don't forget to check out their brunch on Sundays from 11-3pm. It's a huge variety of waffles, omelettes, as well as seafood and yes, even prime rib...all for around $13. The Pump House Grille is a jewel in St. Joe.
