Tucked inside downtown St. Joseph, Michigan is the Pump House Grille. During the summer this cozy tavern-like eatery often has people lined up out the door but a new season brings a brand new menu. Inside, the nautical decor fits this vacation town perfectly and the food is delicious.

Executive chef Marshall Bartley is one of the masterminds behind the new tastes for your pallet. Having cooked for numerous celebrities and former Presidents, Marshall know what guests like.

“I think it's a wide variety of things. I think most of the people are coming in for certain things but we've really changed the menu a bit so it's really hard to tell at this point.”

When I stopped by we cooked up a huge assortment of meals...everything from the mouthwatering pork chops to shrimp with rice and asparagus.

Let me tell you I was more than happy tasting all that was made. The Pump House is known for their appetizer of fried pickles but the crab fritters are amazing. The staff says the strawberry salmon salad is a constant hit as is the chicken penne with mozzarella.

Looking down the line, you can't go wrong with any of the dishes especially those crab fritters! Before I forget, dessert anyone? White chocolate croissant bread pudding. Yes, it's that good.

Also, don't forget to check out their brunch on Sundays from 11-3pm. It's a huge variety of waffles, omelettes, as well as seafood and yes, even prime rib...all for around $13. The Pump House Grille is a jewel in St. Joe.

Not a great dining experience. First off, my family and I ordered black and tans. Five minutes later our waitress came back to tell us they were out of both Bass and Guinness. It was rather surprising that they were out of both of the beers that they advertise on the front of their website. We all ordered the ribs special for dinner. My parents got theirs, but it took them another 5 minutes to bring mine, which was the exact same meal. To make matters worse, the little meat on my ribs was dried out and the rest was fat. I think I only had two ribs on my whole cut. Our waitress also didn't check back with us the whole time until she brought the check. We have too many other nice restaurants to eat at in St. Joseph. I won't be eating here again for quite some time.

The Pump House Grille is a great place to enjoy a great dinner with friends. Hey! it is in beautiful St. Joe Michigan. The food, atomosphere and service is one of a kind. Their menu carries a large variety and their quality is the best! Looking forward to my next visit!

The Pump House Grille continues to please. I love the new menu and have to agree that the crab fritters are some of the best I've ever had. Good choice for good eatin'.
