Saturday, May 12 you can help "Stamp Out Hunger" here in Michiana by donating canned goods, and you don't have to bring them very far for them to be delivered to families in need.
On Saturday, Michiana residents can leave canned goods by the mailbox and do their part to help Stamp Out Hunger across the nation.
The Post Office is asking that residents leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable food items out before their regular mail delivery. The food will then be taken to organizations in the local community by the letter carriers.
In 2011, letter carriers collected more than 70 million pounds of total food donations for the eighth consecutive year.
