Each year millions of dollars and millions of pounds of electronics are thrown into dumpsters.

There are many places in Michiana, including retailers, who will gladly take electronics free of charge so the chemicals do not get into landfills.

According to Greenliving.com Americans now have about 24 electronic devices per household. About 100 million pounds of material is recovered from electronic recycling plants every year.

Many electronic stores will recycle and take old electronics for free. Almost all electronics contain chemicals and materials that are poisonous to the earth.
