Thousands of dollars were raised for school children in South Bend Saturday as teams gathered on the gridiron at the College Football Hall of Fame for the Fourth Annual Our Towne Truck Pull.
Teams of 20 people worked together to see who could pull a semi-truck the fastest.
Proceeds from the event will go towards bringing new reading programs into the 34 schools throughout the city. And organizers say those students and teachers deserve every penny.
“I had one corporate partner tell me, ‘I wouldn't do it,’ he said. ‘I really credit those teachers with what they do every day,’” said Education Foundation Executive Director Susan Warner.
The school corporation had a goal of $90,000 and more than $70,000 of that was raised on Saturday.
