While the Irish may have been playing across the Atlantic, fans in South Bnd were busy cheering them on all morning.
Plenty of people packed into Corby's to celebrate every one of the touchdowns.
From current students to alumni, It was a full house.
And while the Ireland game brought a much different feel to the first game day, these fans say it served a great way to kick-off the 2012 season.
“The energy is electric. It's a new day for Notre Dame football,” said student Mike Campbell. “We've got a lot of stuff going on.
“It's like we're back at the stadium, we're back at it,” said one student, Chris Losco. “we're back at it! Irish are in it.
“I love it here, the vibe here is crazy, it’s full of Notre Dame kids. Go irish, said Mariah Boyd.
And Corby's will be participating in this year's Pigskin Pub Tour.
The pub crawl will take place during every away game, with a shuttle transporting fans to seven local bars, with food and drink specials at each location.
Fans were out at many other bar/restaurants Saturday morning in the South Bend area waiting for the Notre Dame v. Navy game in Ireland to start.
NewsCenter 16's Gabby Gonzalez stopped by a couple of places... one of them was O'Rourke's Public House, which is right across the street from the Notre Dame campus.
